Responsibilities:
Develops and leads comprehensive planned giving program for state's hospitals and sites.
Grows and manages the honorary society for planned giving donors and key prospects.
Plans and executes strategies for acquisition of planned gifts through fostering collaborative relationships with team members throughout AAH.
Serves as expert in structuring gifts which meet donor intentions and AAH needs.
Educates, trains, and motivates major gift officers to engage prospects and donors in planned giving discussions.
Provides strategic direction and technical support for the development of gift strategies.
Leads outreach efforts to internal and external constituencies to educate about charitable planning options in context of financial wellness.
Innovates ways to engage loyal donors in planned giving discussions and partners with clinical staff to identify planned giving prospects.
Works with operations teams to identify and qualify gift planning prospects and steward planned giving donors using available research and data.
Creates and grows multi-faceted strategy to engage the professional advisor community, including collaboration with advisors to create planned gifts, creation of an advisor network and high-level advisory committee.
Plans and executes continuing education programs for professional advisors.
Ensures planned gifts designated for AAH sites are received, manages the processing of estate gifts, oversees the charitable gift annuity program and monitors open estates and trusts.
Assists with creation of endowments.
Develops creative ways to communicate planned giving concepts and serves as the content expert for planned giving marketing, including the website, newsletters, digital communications and publications.
Interacts with program and service line leadership to ensure gift planning program operations are integrated and coordinated across the Aurora system.
Establishes common goals and objectives to ensure a cohesive approach which supports foundation development initiatives and enhances the foundation's financial position.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
None Required.
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 10 years of experience in gift planning or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Technical knowledge of charitable planning vehicles, including financial and tax implications, and the ability to present them effectively to others.
Capacity to be creative, take initiative and exhibit resilience.
Thorough knowledge of ethical guidelines, professional standards and federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to gift planning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and be an excellent representative of Advocate Aurora Health in the community.
Displays emotional intelligence and proven capacity to develop strong effective relationships with team members, donors, clinicians, and internal leaders through partnership and collaboration.
Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This position requires some travel so there will be exposure to weather and road conditions.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Exposed to a normal office environment.
